I was recently informed of an opportunity to chaperone my daughter's field trip to Washington DC in April of 2024 and would need to move around some vacation days in order to do so. I know families have vacations of their own planned and wanted to get your opinion prior to making any final decision.
I propose making December 18th and 19th regular school days rather than part of Christmas Break. Currently, the calendar has students' last day of 2023 as December 11th (Monday) and 12th (Tuesday), while getting back January 8th and 9th respectively. This is an abnormally long four week Christmas Break. Making December 18th and 19th school days would mean students would have a more typical three week Christmas vacation. In its place, students would get April 8th and 9th as school holidays. This happens to be one week removed from spring break. Please let me know your thoughts below. We could also make December 18th and 19th online only as well. I would like to make a final decision on Wednesday, November 7th as the deadline for chaperone signup is the following day. Please feel free to email me any questions. |
