The TOMG Experience
Bored with math? Feeling stunted, frustrated, and confused? Has math been exiled to a corner, buried beneath a rubble of worn-out flashcards and unrealized expectations? Is starting a paragraph with nonsensical questions irritating and derivative?
That One Math Guy offers a transformative educational experience designed to empower students and promote ownership of advanced mathematical reasoning and concepts. Our teaching style is adaptive, learning how your child learns rather than forcing rigid, impersonal techniques and curriculum. This flexibility encourages continued student success, greater creativity and deeper thinking.
That One Math Guy provides small, interactive homeschool classes that infuse traditional classroom lessons with vibrant comedy and energy that defies your expectations. Honestly, the math is secondary to the comedy. A distant second by most measurements...
Regardless, your child will actually learn and look forward to math class. Impossible, right? Come give us a try and make math fun again... for the first time!

Who's This Nate Guy?
Teacher... tutor... hooligan... simple words that tragically undervalue Nate's true merit. Perhaps words like performer... or, better yet, warrior poet would be more sufficient.
Nate has taught students of various disciplines and abilities for... a long time. From graduate level biochemistry to basic middle school math and science, he uses infectious creativity that defies conventions and speaks to students in ways few can. Every class is an adventure... where he is math sherpa navigating you through a treacherous math wilderness.
TOMG Honors Designation
Students can receive an ‘Honors’ designation if they meet one of the following criteria:
Fall Classes Start Sept 5th!
Has your child been experiencing shortness of breath, difficulty sleeping, mild fever, and/or general irritability? Has their progressively waning attention been drawn exclusively to the soft, vacant glow of their cellphones? Hundreds, if not thousands, of young people have fallen victim to this lethargic, often misdiagnosed malady. If so, your child could be suffering from moderate-to-severe Nate withdrawal.
I know. The situation seems dire... perhaps hopeless. Many cases may require immediate action. Fortunately for you, however, treatment for this painful affliction will be available starting September 5th!
New Raleigh Classroom!
For the last four years, our Raleigh students have called the Barn home. Nestled in our quiet, second story classroom, we were fortunate to study under the intense scrutiny of Judgement Llama and the warm hospitality of Le Chatelier family.
Starting this year, however, we are moving to a much larger, dedicated space at Southbridge Fellowship Church. We will meet in the Student Building, which will essentially double our capacity. The space is also equipped with smart technologies and media that is sure to enliven and enrich our classroom experience. Southbridge Fellowship also features ample parking, outside waiting, and even an adjacent playground for families with small children who decide to wait.
Our new Raleigh classroom is located at 12621 Strickland Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613.
2023-24 Open Houses!
Ready for the That One Math Guy experience? Unlikely. Those wanting a preview of the upcoming school year are invited to attend one of our open houses!
Both sessions will be delivered in a hybrid format, with families able to come in-person, participate live in our virtual simulcast, or watch the recording later at their leisure. We will review basic class procedures and policies during the first hour and hold a more simplistic question and answer session afterwards.
